Volta Coconut Industries Ltd has officially unveiled a 1,000-acre investment partnership project in the Volta Region of Ghana, aimed at boosting coconut production, creating jobs for the youth, and promoting agribusiness investment in the region.
Speaking at the launch, Togbe Dunenyo I, Chairman of the Coconut Farmers Association of Ghana (COFAG) in the Volta Region and Chief Executive Officer of Volta Coconut Industries & Resort Ltd, called on sons and daughters of the region, as well as interested investors nationwide and abroad, to take advantage of the opportunity.
According to him, the initiative is designed to help curb youth migration to Accra in search of non-existent jobs by creating sustainable employment opportunities within the Volta Region.
Togbe Dunenyo revealed that the company has already acquired 1,000 acres of litigation-free land in the Volta Region. The land will be allocated to investors under a flexible payment plan, while Volta Coconut Industries Ltd manages the plantation on behalf of investors.
He explained that many people are interested in farming but are unable to do so because they live outside the region or abroad. This investment model, he noted, allows such individuals to invest confidently while professionals handle the day-to-day operations.
The CEO stated that the company intends to take full advantage of the support currently being extended to coconut farmers by the Government of Ghana through the Coconut Farmers Association.
He emphasized that coconut farming is a lifetime legacy, describing it as a long-term investment that continues to generate income for generations.
Beyond plantation farming, Volta Coconut Industries Ltd plans to process coconuts into oil for export, adding value to raw produce. The company also intends to purchase coconuts from farmers across the Volta Region for processing, thereby supporting local farmers and strengthening the value chain.
Togbe Dunenyo assured potential investors that the Volta Region remains one of the most peaceful regions in Ghana, with galamsey-free and litigation-free lands, making it ideal for agricultural investments.
He further assured investors that the company operates strictly in line with the laws and regulations of Ghana, ensuring transparency and security for all partners.
He noted that Ghana is currently the number one coconut producer in Africa, and urged all stakeholders to work together to maintain that position.
In a light-hearted remark, he added that coconut farming began in the Volta Region before spreading to other regions, stressing the need for the region to reclaim and strengthen its leadership role in the sector.
