Peace has finally been restored in Kpedze in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, bringing an end to months of tension within the Traditional Area.
The restoration of calm was marked by a historic reconciliation ceremony where chiefs from all Kpedze communities united and exchanged pleasantries with the Paramount Chief of the Kpedze Traditional Area, Togbega Atsrim, in a symbolic gesture of smoking the peace pipe.
The ceremony was graced by several prominent chiefs, including Togbe Okumka V of Kpedze Todze, Togbe Kekrebesi VI of Kpedze Anoe, Fiator Senyo Buatsi of Kpedze Sreme, among others.
The development follows sustained mediation efforts led by the District Security Council (DISEC), headed by the Ho West District Chief Executive, Hon. Prosper Francis Dussey, which facilitated dialogue among the traditional leaders and key stakeholders to resolve their differences.
This breakthrough would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the youth leadership from the four Kpedze communities and the instrumental role played by eminent citizens of Kpedze who worked behind the scenes to foster understanding and unity.
With unity restored, the way has been paved for all chiefs to return to the traditional enclave to continue engagements and work towards amicable resolution of all outstanding issues in the interest of development.
As part of the ceremony, traditional rituals were performed to signify the rebirth of unity and seal the renewed bond among the chiefs.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ho West, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, reacting to the development, stated: “To God be the Glory. Thanks to all who made this possible. God bless you all.”
Togbe Duneyo I, Development Chief of Kpedze, also expressed his joy, saying he is happy that at long last peace has returned and “we can all celebrate together.”
