Indian Aviation Delegation Arrives in Ghana to Explore Aviation Investment and Training Opportunities in Ho
A high-level delegation of aviation industry stakeholders from India has arrived in Ghana to explore investment opportunities in the country’s aviation sector, with a strong interest in establishing an Aviation Training College in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region.
Among the distinguished members of the delegation is the Director General of Southern College of Engineering and Technology, India. The proposed aviation training institution is expected to serve Ghana, the wider West African sub-region, and other parts of Africa, positioning Ho as an emerging center for aviation education and professional development.
The delegation, led by representatives of Chipsan Aviation Ltd, arrived at Kotoka International Airport in Accra and was received by Mr Daniel Agboka-Dzegede, the Executive Director of Volta Development Forum (VDF). Their visit marks an important step toward advancing aviation investment discussions and assessing the potential of Ho Airport as a regional aviation hub.
Purpose of the Visit
The visit aims to introduce the delegation to key government and aviation sector stakeholders, facilitate discussions on aviation investment opportunities, provide guidance on regulatory requirements, and showcase Ho Airport’s potential for helicopter operations and aviation-related services.
The delegation will also engage traditional authorities, development partners, and regional stakeholders while exploring tourism and investment opportunities within the Volta Region.
High-Level Engagements
During their stay, the delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior government officials, including representatives of the Office of the Vice President and the Ministry of Transport, to discuss the strategic significance of aviation investments in Ghana.
Technical engagements have also been scheduled with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to provide detailed information on licensing procedures, regulatory compliance, operational approvals, and airport facility utilization.
In addition, the delegation is expected to interact with Members of Parliament from the Volta Region as part of broader discussions on regional development and investment opportunities.
Spotlight on Ho Airport
A key component of the visit will be an inspection tour of Ho Airport. The delegation will assess the airport’s infrastructure and its potential to support helicopter services, aviation training, maintenance operations, and related investments.
Meetings with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), and other regional institutions are also expected to highlight investment incentives and development opportunities available within the region.
Tourism and Regional Development
As part of the programme, the visitors will tour selected tourist attractions across the Volta Region, including Wli Waterfalls, Mount Afadja, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, and the Volta Lake.
The tour is intended to showcase the region’s tourism potential and explore opportunities for heli-tourism and aviation-supported tourism services.
Expected Impact
The visit is expected to strengthen business relations between Ghana and India, advance discussions on aviation investments at Ho Airport, and promote the Volta Region as a destination for tourism, education, and aviation-related development.
