Saturday, October 12, marked a significant milestone for Kpesco Old Students Union as they officially launched their highly anticipated homecoming celebrations at GNAT Hall in Ho.
“Building Our Alma Mater, Our Responsibility”
Under the theme “Building Our Alma Mater, Our Responsibility,” the event brought together past and current students, rekindling memories and fostering unity. A speech delivered on behalf of President of the Old Students Association, Mr. George Ofori emphasized the importance of collective support for their alma mater, acknowledging Kpesco’s transformative impact on their lives.
“A school is not just a building; it’s a community, a family. Kpesco made us who we are today. It’s time we give back and ensure its continued success,” Mr. Ofori stressed.
A Collaboration for Progress
This year’s celebration is a collaborative effort between Kpedze Youth for Development, led by Ernest Senyo, and Kpesco Old Students Association. The partnership aims to mobilize resources and expertise for the school’s development.
“We recognize the potential of our alma mater and are committed to supporting its growth. This collaboration is a significant step toward achieving our goals,” Ernest Senyo noted.
Celebrating Successes, Addressing Challenges
Headmistress Miss Ernestina Peniana shared the school’s recent successes, including:
– A major beautification project, transforming the school’s environment
– A state-of-the-art cook stove kitchen, courtesy of the Energy Commission
She expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Kpedze, MP for Ho West Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra, and Mr. George Ofori for their unwavering support.
However, Miss Peniana also highlighted pressing challenges, including:
– Lack of a school bus, forcing the school to borrow from Mawuli School for the launch
– Inadequate furniture, hindering effective learning
Leadership Support
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Divine Bosson, an old student of Kpesco, praised the school’s achievements and pledged to work tirelessly to secure a school bus from the government.
“Kpesco has produced exceptional individuals, and it’s time we start blowing our own horns. I’ll ensure the government provides the necessary support,” Hon. Bosson assured.
