Avatime Traditional Council Officially Invites Ho West MP and DCE to the Final Funeral Rites of Queenmother Onetsitsie Osei Yawa VIII
The Avatime Traditional Council has officially informed the Ho West Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the final funeral rites of Onetsitsie Osei Yawa VIII (Paulina Ama Abofua) and formally invited them to participate in the ceremonies.
The delegation was led by Okusie Adza Bansah, Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee, on behalf of Osie Adza Tepkor VII, Paramount Chief of the Avatime Traditional Area and President of the Avatime Traditional Council.
The delegation was received by the Ho West District Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Dusey, on behalf of himself and the Member of Parliament for Ho West, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Francis Dusey conveyed the condolences of both the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament to the Paramount Chief, the Royal Clan, and the bereaved families on the passing of Onetsitsie Osei Yawa VIII. He also assured the delegation of their attendance and pledged their full support for the funeral rites.
Born in 1948, the revered Paramount Queen made her ancestral journey in 2025. Her final funeral rites are scheduled to take place in Avatime Vane from Wednesday, 23rd September, to Monday, 28th September, 2026. The week-long observance will feature traditional rites, filing past, a funeral service, a thanksgiving service, and other customary ceremonies in honour of her life and legacy.
The funeral is also expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Avatime Traditional Area through colourful traditional ceremonies, music, dance, and customs, offering guests a unique opportunity to experience the traditions and customs of the Avatime people.
The Avatime Traditional Council, the Odamgbohe Royal Clan of Avatime Vane, and the Abofua and allied families have extended a cordial invitation to traditional authorities, government officials, family, friends, and the general public to join in paying their final respects and giving Onetsitsie Osei Yawa VIII a befitting farewell.
