I crave your indulgence to join me in remembering those our fathers who paved the way for us and returned to the village, in a minute’s silence.
I stand before you today filled with immense gratitude and humility as I accept the incredible honor bestowed on me as your new Chief of Avatime-Vane, Okusie Akoto V. It is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I am committed to serving each and every one of you with unwavering dedication.
I foremost, thank the Almighty God on this faithful day for his faithfulness, protection, and provision throughout this journey of life.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my parents, all those who impacted me positively and elders of Azagã clan, who have always dreamt of seeing me in this role. Their unwavering support and belief in me have been the driving force behind my journey. I am forever grateful for their guidance and love.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to all the sub-chiefs and community leaders who have paved the way before me. Your wisdom and dedication have laid a strong foundation for us to build upon. I promise to honor your legacy by continuing to strive for progress and positive change in the community.
To the incredible individuals who make up our community, I am here to listen, to learn, and to work alongside you. Together, we will address the challenges we face and seize the opportunities that lie ahead. Your voices matter, and I am committed to ensuring that each and every one of you is heard and represented. I believe in the power of unity and collaboration for (“Kaba & Kala”). Individually, we are one drop, together, we are an ocean. There is beauty and power in unity. We must be united in heart and mind. One Vane, one people. The best way to predict the future is to create it together. When spiders unite, they can tie down a lion for where there is unity there is always victory. I believe in the peace that comes from sought after unity. This is not to say that differences need to be
eliminated, or even that they should be put aside. Differences are what make people unique from one another. However, seeking unity is what brings peace. Seeking unity means looking for the things we have in common, the shared ground, the similarities that create bonds. It is only when all people can do this that any sort of peace can occur. We must remember that the different religions, ideologies, and political systems of our community were founded for their main purpose of helping citizens achieve happiness. We must not lose sight of this fundamental goal and at no time should we place means above ends; the supremacy of our citizens over matter and ideology must always be maintained. When living in a society, we should share in the sufferings of our fellow citizens and practice compassion and tolerance not only towards our loved ones but also towards our enemies. Our ability and willingness to be compassionate and tolerant is the test of our moral strength. We must set an example through our own actions, for we cannot hope to convince others of the value of strength and unity by mere words. We must live up to the same high standards of integrity and sacrifice that we ask of others.
Let us come together, regardless of our backgrounds or differences, to build a community where everyone feels valued and included. I am dedicated to fostering an environment of respect, empathy, and understanding.
As your humble chief, I will prioritize the well-being and prosperity of our community. I will work tirelessly to improve access to quality healthcare, create education endowment fund to support brilliant and needy students, and economic opportunities such as youth in farming and other areas. I would like to encourage the elderly, especially those living outside Vane, to concern themselves with development activities at home and to regularly bring their children home so we can build the town that we want it to be in future. Together, we can create a future where every individual has the chance to thrive. I seize this opportunity to salute the Vane Citizens Association (VACA) and the entire community for initiating development projects such as the Vane Water system that provides various homes with potable water, the public place of convenience for “Kala and Kaba”, the Vane Health post, the construction of the Community Center etc. I am so delighted to be associated with these developments projects and I hope many more projects will be conceived and executed during my tenure as a chief.
In closing, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. I am honored to be your chief, and I am excited about the journey that lies ahead. Let us embark on this path together, hand in hand, as we shape a brighter and more prosperous future for our community. Thank you!” Ator Kepa kape loo!!!
