The Kpedze Youth for Development Association (KYDA) has successfully celebrated its highly anticipated annual Youth Homecoming Festival, held from November 17th to 23rd at Kpedze Sreme. This year’s celebration, themed “Restoring Unity and Sustainable Development: The Role of the Youth,” focused on tackling the long-standing challenge of access to clean water in Kpedze Sreme. The week-long event assembled chiefs, opinion leaders, citizens, and vibrant youth for a memorable celebration centred on community development.
The 2025 Youth Homecoming Festival featured a packed lineup of activities that showcased the unity, culture, and talent of the people of Kpedze. Among the highlights were a football tournament, a beauty pageant, a mega float to neighbouring communities, a musical concert, and a grand durbar that drew large crowds from far and near.
Kpedze Awlime emerged champions of the football gala, earning bragging rights and adding excitement to the festivities.
Speaking at the grand durbar, Togbe Dunenyo I, Development Chief of the Kpedze State Council and Chairman of the Kpedze Youth for Development Association, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Kpedze for their diverse contributions toward making the 2025 celebration a resounding success.
Togbe Dunenyo assured the public that all funds raised during the celebration will be used solely for their intended purpose—the provision of potable water for the people of Kpedze Sreme. He revealed that plans are already underway to procure water pipes in the coming days to begin channeling water to the community. He emphasized transparency and promised full accountability in the execution of the project.
He further called for unity among the people of Kpedze, stressing that only through collective effort can the community regain its former glory and achieve sustainable development.
In his address, Togbe Dunenyo also encouraged the youth to venture into agriculture, particularly coconut farming, a sector in which he is actively involved. As the Volta/Oti Regional Chairman of the Coconut Farmers Association of Ghana, he pledged his support to any young person willing to enter the coconut value chain. He further announced that special awards will be introduced in the next edition of the Youth Homecoming Festival to honour outstanding youth in agriculture.
The Kpedze Youth Homecoming Festival, which rotates among the various Kpedze communities, will be hosted by Kpedze Todze in the next edition. KYDA has expressed optimism that the upcoming festival will build on the successes of this year and further strengthen the spirit of unity and development in Kpedze.
The 2025 festival will be remembered not only for its colourful activities and communal joy but also for its renewed commitment to sustainable development and youth empowerment. As Kpedze looks to the future, the community stands united in its mission to restore pride, progress, and prosperity.
