The chiefs and elders of the Kpedze State Council recently undertook a significant cultural visit to Avatime Biakpa, marking a moment of unity, identity, and tradition.
The distinguished delegation was led by Togbe Okumka V, Chairman of the Kpedze State Council. He was supported by Togbe Baah, Togbe Agbla, other elders, and the Queen Mother of Kpando together with sub-queens from Gabi, Konda, Gadza, and Tsakpoe. All were beautifully adorned in rich traditional regalia, symbolizing authority, heritage, and pride.
At the heart of the event was Togbe Dunenyo I, a native of Avatime Biakpa whose mother hails from Kpedze and Kpando. Having been installed by his maternal home in Kpedze, it was both culturally appropriate and necessary for the Kpedze chiefs to formally introduce him to his paternal people in Avatime Biakpa.
This important customary act reflects the deep respect for lineage in Ghanaian tradition, where both maternal and paternal ties are recognized and honored. By presenting him to his paternal community, the Kpedze delegation affirmed his identity, legitimacy, and strengthened the bond between the two communities.
The ceremony served not only as a formal introduction but also as a celebration of unity, kinship, and cultural continuity. It highlighted the enduring values that connect families and traditional areas across generations.
