The Volta Region of Ghana is set to witness one of the large-scale investment in poultry farming with the establishment of a mega poultry farm known as Volta Valley View Farms.
Speaking to gosagh.com , the CEO of the project Mr Makafui Agbanyo, a certified US State Department of Agriculture expert who supervises the export of poultry products from the US to other countries said he found it wise to use his expertise to establish this mammoth project in his own region to address the growing demands for quality poultry products and also provide employment for the people.
According to Mr Agbanyo , the project when completed is expected to raise about a million birds and eggs to feed the Volta Region and beyond.
He made this known when a delegation from the Volta Development Forum (VDF) paid a visit to the site in Wumenu near Ho.
The VDF delegation was led by its Executive Director Mr Dan Dzegede and the Vice President Hon. Kofi Humado.
The team applauded the entrepreneurial spirit of Mr Makafui Agbanyo who has returned from the US in order to start this project.
Mr Dzegede noted that the facility will need the establishment of support services such as the constant supply of poultry feed, a chick hatchery among others. He is therefore calling on other entrepreneurs to support Volta Valley View Farms with such services.
The Volta Development Forum is also appealing to institutions like Ghana EXIM BANK, ADB, Government, and other International agencies to support this laudable investment.
The facility which is situated on a fifteen-acre land consists of brooder houses, offices, accommodation for workers, borehole, feed mill among others and powered by solar energy.
Volta Valley View Farms is expected to become fully operational by the beginning of 2024.
