It was a moment of immense pride and celebration as Mr. Isaac Mensah emerged as the Valedictorian of the MSc. International Relations Class of 2026 at the University of Gold Coast, earning six prestigious awards for his outstanding academic performance.
Mr. Mensah, who graduated with an MSc. in International Relations, was named the Overall Best Student of the MSc. International Relations Class of 2026 and subsequently emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student (Valedictorian) of the 2026 graduating class.
His remarkable academic performance earned him six awards in the following categories:

- International Economics

The six awards underscore Mr. Mensah’s exceptional academic performance, discipline and commitment to excellence throughout his postgraduate studies.
His achievement was further distinguished by his becoming the first recipient of the University of Gold Coast’s Chartered Gold Coast Certificate, awarded in recognition of his outstanding achievements. According to the Chancellor of the university, the Gold Certificate reflects the dignity of academic tradition while meeting the demands of modern credibility.
Delivering the valedictory address at the university’s graduation ceremony, Mr. Mensah reflected on the journey that led to the significant achievement.
According to him, graduation was not merely a celebration of years spent in the classroom, but also a testament to resilience, perseverance and the lessons learned both inside and outside the lecture halls.
He acknowledged the sleepless nights, moments of doubt and challenges that at times appeared impossible, noting that the graduating class had successfully overcome them together.
“To our lecturers, thank you for your guidance and wisdom. To our families, thank you for your love and support. To our peers, thank you for your solidarity. This day belongs to all of us,” he said.
Mr. Mensah reminded his colleagues that graduation should not be viewed as the end of their educational journey, but rather as the beginning of a greater responsibility to society.
“The knowledge we have gained is not meant to be kept, but to be used — to serve, to uplift, and to transform,” he stated.
He urged members of the Class of 2026 to choose courage over comfort, service over self, and unity over division, regardless of the different career paths they may pursue.
