Tensions are very high at Avatime-Amedzofe over the position of a new chief.
The quest for new chief to replace the vacant position of Akyem Foli (chief of Avatime-Amedzofe and right wing chief of Avatime Traditional Area) has rather taken a dramatic twist as two different individuals have been ‘captured’ for the said position.
Information gathered by gosagh.com indicates that one person was appointed last Sunday and was expected to be coronated on, Saturday, July 8. However, another faction has also nominated someone else on Thursday July 6, hoping to outdoor him next week.
This has sparked some confusion in the community which might escalate into something else, if not intervened early.
The position of ‘Akyem Foli’ became vacant after the passing away of Akyem Foli V, who was buried about a month ago.
According to some elders of the town who spoke to gosagh.com, when a chief dies, it takes 40 days after burial to install a new one so it is very surprising to see this power struggle even when the forty days has not elapsed.
We call for calm and pray for a peaceful resolution on this matter.
